When it comes to original material, not the oldest pub in the trendy Bucktown Chicago all stops. Case in point? LP colored floor are visible to the global glass floors in the main bathroom – did the architects of the pulverized remains of old vinyl records.

Well the local firm Wilkinson Blender Architecture, renovated the house is completely green. Its remarkable features include the use of recycled wood salvaged from the original roof structure, roof garden, with easy to maintain wind and solar, and geothermal wells drilled 15 in the soil under the basement. A silent electric transformer bank will blink in a control room basement, followed by each of these entries renewable.

In addition, the architects used a company from south of Chicago in bulk recycling, Recycling Services Incorporated, as much as 80 percent of construction waste generated during the renovation process. All these measures have made the first LEED for Homes Gold certified building in Illinois, and the residence eighth in the United States.

The spacious house, with rooms on the ground floor is heard by men and women of the record companies and Lisa Frank Mauceri. The house also serves as their office.

Upon entering, you walk into what at first glance like an amusement arcade or public space, with a video game, toy robots, and a ping-pong rules – but that’s where Mauceri go to work. A work surface without a side paper lies in indirect light, under a canopy made of hand-collected and used acoustic textile. Found throughout the house are framed, original hand-drawn illustrations, which appeared in magazines of science fiction, 1950, as well as autographed posters of the giants of American skateboard.

It is, however, once you get on the roof, the excitement begins. Once past the kitchen floor with their cabinets Lavender compensated by fire doors Panelite orange, take a last flight – and discover that the roof almost hums with green building technologies.
